She married Martin Nufer Barton County, Kansas, 18 February 1909. Martin was born Ruhenthal, Russia 30 July 1881. The following individuals are also linked to this event: William M. Nufer (Child); Martin was the son of Christopher Nufer and Susanna Scharf. Martin died 8 March 1951 Dodge City, Kansas, at 69 years of age. His body was interred March 1951 Dodge City, Kansas, Maple Grove Cemetery. Martin Nufer was a farmer who lived north of Great Bend, Kansas. They lived near Hoisington and Susank in Barton County Kansas. He wanted to do better for his family so sometime in the last half of 1913 or 1914 he moved them to Wetaskawin, Alberta, Canada where his father Christopher lived with his wife Anna. His brothers Bill and Alex moved with him with their families. It is possible that his two other brothers and a sister also made the journey. At the time, his family consisted of his wife Anna and three children Alvin, Leah, and Louise. He did the best he could for his family by farming, trapping, hunting, and fishing but he "about starved to death" and moved his family back to Barton County in March 1917. In the short time they were in Canada they added the twins Edna and Elsie, and Rachel to their family. They moved back when Rachel was three months old. The rest of his family, Leo, Melvin and Elmer, where born on the new farm in Barton County. He wanted a bigger farm so he could make more money so in 1926 he moved his family to Ford County, Kansas. North of Dodge City. The youngest son, Elmer, was two years old when they moved. The move to Dodge City took four or five days. All of the livestock was driven by horse or on foot. He used his Fordson tractor to tow their machinery to the new farm. The tractor could only go about 2.5 mph. Anything that could be towed was hooked onto the back of the tractor, one after the other. The procession behind the tractor was over a half a block long. At night they would stop at a farm along the way and let the stock graze. In the evenings and in the mornings they would milk the cows and give it to the farmer as payment for letting them stay there through the night. After he moved the family to Dodge City, oil was found on the farm he left in Barton County. The old farm had 16 or so oil wells on 160 acres of land. The farm had been sold to a man named Bott (this needs verified). In 1946 Martin and Anna moved into Dodge City to a house at 1110 6th Avenue and lived there until their deaths. When he moved to town he sold a quarter of a section of his land, 160 acres, to each of his boys. Elmer had agreed to stay on the farm with his father to help him pay down a $14,000 debt. For this his father made sure he got the section of land with the homestead on it. Since Elmer was now working the farm he agreed to pay one third of the income of the farm to his father and mother until they died. This way Martin got to keep his "life estate" in the farm. Eventualy, all the boys sold there land to Elmer. When Anna died, their girls all split a quarter of a section. The girls all ended up selling to Louise. This land passed on to Marvin Eichman after her death.
Antoinette immigrated, 1892. Destination: destination unknown. She petitioned the court to become a citizen 1896.
