37. Rachel4 Nufer (Antoinette3 Deutsch, Fredrick2, Michael1) was born Wetaskawin, Alberta, Canada 19 December 1916.

She married twice. She married Alvin Herzberg Dodge City, Kansas, 16 June 1937. Alvin was born Hoisington, Kansas 24 September 1916. Alvin was the son of Peter Ochs and Maria Ehrlich. Alvin died 2 August 1952 Great Bend, Kansas, at 35 years of age. Alvin worked for Haliburton, an oil company, in Great Bend Kansas. One evening he, his wife Rachel, and his son Dale, along with two other individuals went to make the rounds of the oil wells. His other son, Willard, stayed at home that evening to get ready to go out to diner with the family after they returned from the oil fields. In those days they used to prime the wells with acid in order to get a well to produce more. They did this by pouring the acid into the well. On this evening the conditions were just right for the accident that occurred. A chemical reaction happened in the well when the acid met the oil. Hydrogen chloride gas rose up out of the well and poisoned all except Rachel to death. The story told is that Dale was half way between is father and mother when the gas became apparent. He was out of danger but when his father went down he went to help him and was poisoned also.
