Genealogy

My name is Rex Nufer.  Welcome to my web site!

This web site has been a long time coming for me.  I've wanted to create it for a long while now, but have not had the time.  Family responsibilities and raising children has had a higher priority in my life.  My primary reason for creating this site was to provide the world with access to my family tree.  Anyone who has ever tried to assemble the broken and missing branches of their family tree knows this is an endless task.  I always was interested in my family's history.  It started when I was a child.  My wife was aware of my on-again off-again interest in my past, so for Christmas 1998 she gave me a software package to use to compile my family tree.   It wasn't until the following summer I had a chance to install the software and start using it.  Once I did I became obsessed with trying to find out as much about my family's past as I could.  That leads me to this web site!

Since my intent is to provide the site with content as soon as possible, I plan to display as much data as I can initially.  Therefore, there will be numerous (and hopefully often) updates.  Currently I plan on including data for both mine and my wife's families.  I'll include my wife's family because that is part of my children's family tree.  My tree will eventually include data on the Nufer's, Deutsch's, Boger's, Van Cleave's, Smith's and others too numerous to name.  My wife's family will eventually include data on the Woodruff's, Spicer's, Griffin's,  Holbrook's and others.  View my genealogy page for more info on these families.

Before long I'd like to include photos of our ancestors and digital images of important genealogical documents.  Like birth certificates, marriage licenses and the sort.  Also, any data I compile I'd like to display here.  Some data I possess I don't think is elsewhere on the web.  This will make it easier for both me, and anyone doing research to review it.  So, if there is nothing interesting for you here now, check back frequently and hopefully there will be something for you next time.

If you'd like to contact me you can email me at dodgecityhome@gmail.com.  I would enjoy talking with you.  If you have any info on these families PLEASE don't think twice about getting in touch with me.  I would greatly enjoy your input.

Have you ever heard of the Boger Book? Well here it is! Folks know this book by a lot of names but its officially named 'The Journal of Johannes Boger'.

It was originally published back in the 90's in a limited print set. I've made it available for anyone who wants a copy. For those who are not familiar with it, the journal was written by Johannes Boger. A German immigrant from Russia who came to the United States in 1893.
